1997 ORLANDO STEINGARTEN Riesling

My favorite Riesling. An outstanding Australian Riesling, that starts off life with razor sharp acidity, and an austerity of style that reflect its lean, rocky, vineyard origins. Deep straw colour, already showing developed character. Superb aroma of ‘kero’, honeycomb, spice, limes and toast. Totally mouthfilling, with superb counterpoints reflecting age and youth. Flavours of toasted honey are opposed, yet integrated with limes and spice. Excellent length and concentration – very powerful. The acidity is still vibrant, giving the wine a continued youthful character. Perfect balance, followed by very long honey, lime and kero aftertaste.
